Question: 1983 nissan shuts off after 5 minutes

I have a 1983 nissan 280 with 62000 miles. the fuel pump has been replaced. It runs for about 5 minutes and shuts off after it cools down it crank and do the same

My 1999 Quest was doing this and it needed the knock sensor and the camshaft sensor replaced. Now it runs fine.

What I have seen is one of two scenarios. Seems kind of unrelated, but does your water temp sensor function properly? I just diagnosed a 75 280Z and found that a fouled water temp sensor had actually caused the ignition control unit to fail. Car would work if the temp sensor was bypassed to ground, or if the advance timing signal circuit was disabled. A ZX has a slightly different module for the ignition, but runs off the same principle.
