Question: Vin Number

I am looking at a XKE Coupe with a VIN number of 1E30481 and the seller says it's a 1965 model, however; the engine is a 3.8, the trans is non-syncro, the dash and console is aluminum clad. Is this an earlier car than a 1965

The engine and transmission have been substitited with units from an older E-Type. The car was built in 1965 as a 4.2 unit. The original engine was # 7E 2212-9. The original transmission was # EJ 1309. I currently have a '69 4.2, let me know if you need any further details.

Same as you I am also looking for a VIN number starting in 1, 4 or 5 but for a XK8 instead. DO you happen to know if it exists such a VIN US nr ?, because I have searched and carfax describes only Jags starting with an S, a brit VIN. Customs require in Mexico a US VIN Nr. All comments and leads will be appreciated. Beard and Rib are also such experts I would appreciate your input on this query.

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
