Question: When car accelerates it loses power but engine keeps running
I have a 1994 Mercury Sable 4 cyl 3.0. While driving, 6when you push on the accelerator, the car loses power. The engine still stays running but the car coasts to a halt. I restart the engine and it moves again for about 1 1/2 miles then the same problem happens. I have replaced the fuel pump in the fuel tank and the fuel filter. It acts like it's starving for fuel but it can't be because the engines stays running. I've checked the transmission and it all looks good but could it be some type of transmission problem? What else can I check? Help?
