Find a Local Mechanic

Normally they’re great. This time 2 weird things happened. 1. I was offered a reward card with a punchcard then the guy wanted my social, neglecting to mention that it was a credit card. I handled it, but some training may be needed there. 2. They tore my hatch protective liner and said nothing about it. I got it for $30 or $50 on amazon. Could have been a super easy discussion, instead I found it shoved under my rear floor like I wouldn’t notice, and it has 2 huge holes in it from them accidentally closing it in the gate. Again, very obvious what happened, probably an honest mistake. But hiding it feels icky.

I have always had a good experience. The guys who work in Manchester off south willow are just great to deal with. Very present and always get the job done right.

I usually go to this Midas for my annual state inspection and as expected, I failed the inspection because of brakes. I was told that I needed brakes all around, pads and rotors, to the tune of $800. I knew going in that I definitely needed rear brakes, and my front brakes would probably be fine. But given that it was a quick estimate, the price, etc., I was suspicious and went for a second opinion. I did and as I suspected, not need front brakes, as they were perfectly fine for at least another year if not more, but the rear brakes did need replacing. The rotors also did not need to be replaced, as they were able to turn them down. All this to a tune of $294, which includes $40 for another inspection.
I went back to the Midas shop yesterday, 3/24, to voice my opinion and asked them to delete myself and my wifes car from their system, but I was told they couldn't do that. That's OK, as we won't be back for any service in the future.
I was thoroughly disappointed at the service I received here and I can only suspect that given we are seniors (I am 75), that like a lot of people will try to take advantage of us. I don't think this is the case and I hope it isn't, but it happens a lot these days.

Dan and Josiah are always clear, excellent communicators who explain what needs to be done well. They know not everyone knows about cars and they really do accommodate their customers.
