We've had this Zook - a 4 door, 5spd. JX - for about 3 years now, and have 220,000 kms. on it. Throughout this time,
it has been a solid, reliable vehicle, with no major problems and few minor ones. This is an econobox mini-SUV - but
it's a real 4x4, with locking hubs and both low and high ranges - not modern, but pretty well bullet-proof and
extremely effective. There's lots of interior room, and the large swing-open tailgate and outside mounted spare tire are
a great arrangement. The 1.6L engine is adequate if you're not in a hurry, but you do have to drive the Sidekick -
downshift for hills, etc... You pay the price for this in interior appointments. Creature comforts are minimal; it's
noisy, there is a tendency to leak water around the door seals, you feel the wind and big trucks at highway speeds, and
the ride can be harsh. But dollar for dollar, pound for pound, the Sidekicks (this is our third) delivers a lot of bang
- and reliability - for the buck.
